Grading stations

Our grading stations for the assessment of timber allow – depending on the design – the visual inspection of the wane and wood surface on all 4 sides. The quality grading can be done manually by one or more employees, or automatically through the use of scanners. A combination of manual and automatic grading is also available.

The assignment of the quality to each board can be carried out in various ways:

  • When manually sorting through pulling or pushing the boards and reading the board position via light switches or the pushing of buttons.
  • The quality already assigned at the saw is acquired by the control system.
  • In automatic grading, the data determined by the scanner are virtually linked to the respective board.

To prevent a wrong sequence and therefore incorrect quality assignments of the boards within a sorting line, we provide various mechanisms for sequence and plausibility checks, such as, e.g., the unique marking of the boards.
